Prior Agenda (2018)

Part training, Part conference, All tech, All awesome

Stay tuned for updates to the 2019 Agenda

Our 2018 conference included:

  • Talent Advisor: We’ll start with a keynote from Adam Ward, Pinterest’s former Head of Recruiting, who will share how we can create a shared responsibility Talent Advisor model with engineering hiring teams. Adam’s keynote will be followed by a problem-solving session with recruiting leaders from Disney, Pinterest, and ESPN, and a peer-to-peer learning session, where you’ll work in small groups to build talent advisor best practices.
  • Hiring Manager Chat: An engineering leader from eBay will share how he’s leveraging recruiting to drive an engineering culture change
  • Sourcing and Engagement: Jessica McKellar, Founder and CTO of Pilot, and former Engineering Director at Dropbox, will pull back the curtain on the open source community, and share her secrets to quickly building teams of high performing engineers. Bring your questions and your problems — Jessica’s keynote will be followed by a problem-solving session with an engineering leader, Mark Tortorici of Transform, Kim Hoffman of Intuit and Glen Gutmacher of State Street.
  • Hands-on Sourcing Workshops: We’ll end Day One with our famous Roundtables. Follow some of the world’s best sourcers (they’ll be wearing the lab coats), bring your laptop and get expert coaching on your sourcing challenges. Or, if you lead a team or a sourcing program (such as employee referrals), share best practices with your peers.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Last year at Talent42, we started an explosive conversation about laying the groundwork for more inclusive tech teams. We’re taking the conversation even further this year, exploring the highs and lows of finding and engaging diverse candidates, guiding and advising hiring managers, tackling the challenges and leveraging the advantages of diversity in tech. The keynote will be followed by live problem solving with Jessica McKellar (who infamously increased female participation in the python community and other recruiting leaders, as well as peer-to-peer learning sessions, where leaders will build out diversity strategy best practices and sourcers show off their best diversity sourcing tactics.
  • Automation: We’ll end the conference by taking a close look at shiny objects – the solutions, tools and platforms that promise to help us engage, source and manage high quality tech talent. When is it worth it to invest in a new tool or system, and when does it make sense to resist? We’ll hear from Amazon’s Head of Recruiting Transformation, who will tell us how she frames and defines technology problems, how she evaluates solutions and expected outcomes, and how she ensures teams are prepared to take advantage new technology. We’ll “problem solve live” with tech recruiting leaders from Uber and other tech companies, who will share how they are integrating AI and machine learning into their recruiting stack, as well as which tools help them save time and increase recruiting results.

Registration will begin at 7:30am in June with Opening Remarks starting at 8:30am Sharp

Conference will conclude by 4:30pm the next day.

*Agenda subject to change based on speaker cancellation or travel issues.
